So the weather was super hot, the temperature rising from the courts on the playground at Pennine was scorchio!!! The girls made a fantastic start to the tournament beating Hilton B 12-0. The girls then had 3 games off so it was important to stay cool in the shade and drink plenty of water. Their second game was against Springfield junior, the girls passed the ball so well down the court time after time to take another win 9-0. Time to just have one more game off before playing the hosts-Pennine.. Not an easy game and exceptionally scrappy, HF girls sustained many injuries but they persevered and fought hard, the 3-0 win was very well deserved. Hooray, winners of the group put the girls in the Semi against Hilton A. All teams were now very hot and exhausted. HF’s were out to win and by the seat of their pants scored to win 1-0. Final time..... Surprise surprise, a HF’s v Melbourne final. Both teams were desperate to win and applied the pressure, half time it was 1-1. By now both teams were struggling with the heat, sadly HF’s had several shots on goal but just couldn’t get them in the net, Melbourne won 3-1! HF’s played with such determination, they did as usual themselves, me, their parents and the whole school proud. 2018 South Derbyshire 7 a-side Silver medalists, not a bad way to finish the sports calendar. 3 of our girls were also spotted again for County trials and master classes by the Derbyshire County Satellite team. Amazing!! Thanks to the cheerleaders and taxi drivers again, you were a brilliant support.
