A mix of 8 pupils from years 5 and 6 played in the annual basketball competition this evening travelling once again to Pingle. Having a tough league of Melbourne (A), Repton and Etwall we battled hard. Our first match V Etwall ended 2-2, Melbourne beat us 4-2, we beat Repton 6-2. The end of the fixtures saw HF tied at the top of the table on points with Etwall, this meant we had to play in a 'play off' against each other to decide on which team would go through to the final. The match was reduced from 8 minutes to 3 minutes. Both teams had several attempts at scoring but the 3 minutes soon ended at 0-0. I held my breath as we were informed both teams would have to play 'Golden Goal'.... A fantastic determined effort from the whole team with Lewis Mee scoring a fantastic basket over the back of his head, woohoo, through to the finals. Amazing.
